Lena Dunham With An Emery Board: Deborah Lippmann, Making It In New York One Manicure At A Time

Celebrity manicurist Deborah+Lippmann+HSN+HBO+Forsaken+True+Blood+I921fC1LST1lDeborah Lippmann never worked at a ten buck
manicure mill or, if she did, she’s not saying.  Needing a survival job to pay the rent, the aspiring jazz singer and failed waitress went to beauty school and landed a filing and polishing gig at Frederic Fekkai when his salon was at Bergdorf’s.
Celebrity clients like Martha Stewart liked her work, and her voice, and Marni Nixon-style she recorded holiday songs for Stewart’s Christmas Specials. The Lippmann  Collection, with its just edgy enough range of indie-glam colors,  came next as did marriage, and an 80 pound weight loss she shared with the readers of 1210_ShapeShape magazine. Here’s Lippman now,
singing on QVC for the holidays. Go Girl!
“Deborah Lippmann’s colors are irreverent and classy and I’ve always coveted them (and stolen them from my mother), so who better to embody the Girls spirit in polish form. I’ve been wearing Hannah like it’s going out of style.”–Lena Dunham 2012_12_girls-hbo-deborah-lippmann-nail-polishlippmanncollection_2241_2914656
