For today at least, I will feel like an Arianna Huffington disciple as I keyword spam this post to see what happens. I consider this quite similar to what Huffington Post/AOL does all day, every day–i. e. writing teasing, time-wasting come-ons that have little to do with the actual story. Once upon a time, hyped headlines like these were the down-market tactics of the supermarket tabloids. Now that the quants and all their likes, follows, friends, shares, tweets and other quantifiable proof of consumer affection ( I personally prefer sales as a success measurement but that’s a generational thing) drive advertising rates, it’s the new reality.
So say hello to Justin, the new Gary Cooper. Betcha very few of Bieber’s 33,847,038 followers on Twitter have ever heard of GC or would even find him attractive.
