Nicky Manaj’s plus one for the 2013 Grammys was The Pope. The next day he quit his job. Her red vestment by Versace. Jennifer Lopez gave us a leg show but her otherwise shapeless caftan by Anthony Vaccarello moved the 43 year old superstar a few mojitos closer to matronly. Angelina Jolie did it better at last year’s Oscars in Versace, earning her right leg a Twitter fan account with 15,000 followers.
Fergie, in tangerine Gautier lace, gave us too much information with the jarring black undies, but the gown is gorgeous. Carrie Underwood arrived in Gomez Garcia but it was her satin ballgown turned LED lightshow that was the most theatrical turn of the night.
Lady Gaga sat this one out because of an injury (she’s rumored to be having hip surgery) but Russian-born Sasha Gradiva (wearing gown and guns) and Nadea (dressed like an old-school circus performer) were two of the edgy wannabes that made every worst-dressed list for the night. Repping the over 50 crowd, Jane Seymour is still Bond Girl beautiful in a sparkly long gold sheath. But Diana Ross looks more dowager than diva, more granny than Grammy in a Hillary-esque black trouser suit with clown ruff flounces at the sleeves. Lozez’ black, gam revealing but otherwise forgiving caftan, would have been a far better choice.
